Get To Know Me

Hey Ya’ll!  I’m Journee!

I’m a 26 year old wife and mother.  I have a two year old daughter and a sweet fur baby.  I currently reside in Conroe, TX, but I was born and raised in Central Louisiana.  I have a Bachelors of Science in Biology, though I currently stay home full time with my daughter.  Leaving the corporate world to raise my daughter is where the story of Conroe Creations begins.  I’ve always been a very busy person.  I’ve worked since I could drive, and often times I worked more than one job.  I worked the entire time I was in college and staying busy is what I was used to.  When I left my job to stay home with my daughter, I definitely felt like something was missing.  I always felt on edge, as if I weren’t doing enough.  “Just raising a baby” (though it is a TON of work) didn’t feel like I was doing enough.  I very quickly became down on myself, but looking back I just wish I could tell that girl all that was to come.

In 2017, I graduated college, married my husband, moved to TX, and was soon pregnant with my daughter.  We started off in Katy, TX which we never quite settled in.  In 2018 we moved to Conroe which we very quickly grew to love.  Conroe is a lake town, nestled on Lake Conroe.  I knew I wanted to incorporate our new town into our home decor.  I loved the shape of Lake Conroe because it was so distinct, so I began the hunt for the perfect silhouette of Lake Conroe for our home.  To my surprise, I could not fine ONE that fit our style, so I decided to make my own!  I created several pieces before finding the one that fit our home perfectly.  I decided to sell the others on Facebook Market Place, and to my surprise they sold quickly!  So I made more.  And those sold quickly as well.  I was so excited for my new hobby.  It wasn’t long before I opened my Etsy shop and since then its taken off!

I started my Etsy with nothing but lake and state silhouettes.  I’ve since learned hand lettering and began to incorporate home decor and wedding signs into my shop.  Not long after that, I ventured into painted jean jackets.  And then into the pearl adorned and rhinestone fringe jackets.  It seems that the busier I get the more ideas I get.  And let me tell y’all, these ideas are just getting bigger and bigger.  I am so thankful that I have been able to turn this hobby into a business.  It means so much to me to be able to stay home and take care of my daughter while still contributing to the household financially.  I strongly believe that things just fall into place when they’re meant to be, and right now I feel that I am exactly right where I need to be.
